Protecting Life Movement Trust – Gift Policy
The Protecting Life Movement Trust (PLMT) runs a program that rescues girls & women in crisis pregnancy situations. The program is called Rescue Kiota (“Kiota” is a Kiswahili word meaning “Birds Nest”). Currently, Rescue Kiota is registered and based in Muthithi, Kigumo Sub-County, Muranga County. PLMT is committed to opening new homes in other areas depending on the need and availability of resources to run the home.
To date, two hundred and eighteen (218) girls and babies have been rescued. Most of the girls have been reintegrated with their families and some have gone back to school and even graduated. In the rare cases where girls cannot be reintegrated with their families, they are taken to other homes with their babies. Some babies are also sent to children’s homes that care for them while the mothers go back to school and they are then connected with their mothers when they finish school. A few children have been given up (by their mothers) for adoption.
